Finland

Finland is probably best known for Nokia mobile phones, but also for its beautiful nature; vast forests and thousands of lakes. Finland has four special seasons, all with special beautiful features. The weather both in summer and winter time has its own exotic attraction; winter with snow and magical northern lights and summer with long, bright days when the sun does not set for several weeks. Autumn colours are especially beautiful on and around the fells of Lapland and spring is time of explosion of growth after the long winter.

Finland is a participant in the European single currency, so its monetary unit is euro (EUR), divided into 100 cents. Time in Finland is 2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT).

City of Oulu

Oulu is located on the coast of the Gulf of Bothnia, in the Northern Ostrobothnia region, 160 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle and Lapland. The city was founded in 1605 by King Charles IX of Sweden and is now a well-known university and high-tech city with approximately 140 000 inhabitants. The city is well served by air connections from Helsinki (55 minutes). In Oulu average daytime temperature in September is +8,2ºC.
